My Hero - Shaun Johnson
Shaun Johnson plays for the Vodafone Warriors Rugby League club. Shaun Johnson is my hero because he is an amazing league player that inspires me to be a better player myself. This is my last season playing for Waro Rakau Rugby League Club because I am a girl so I can only play till a certain age. This season having Shaun Johnson as my hero has motivated me to be a better rugby league player. My lifetime goal is to become a professional woman rugby league player for New Zealand.

My Robot Story
In class we had to make up a robot and then we wrote a story about it and what it is. The year 7 and 8's had to do a false start which is writing the middle at the start and then you start half way through.
Zoomer
“Clink, Clonk, Clink.” The magnets are flying at Zoomer at great speeds.
“Aarrh! Where should I go? What should I do?” thought Zoomer.
Before Zoomer gets crushed under the weight of magnets, let me take you back to where this all began.
It was a beautiful Saturday morning and Zoomer was going to buy some magnets from a magnet shop in the middle of town. He was nearly at the shop, where they were still setting up for the day.
Zoomer just got to the shop as they were opening up. He opened the door and walked into the shop. Then it all happened!…
“Clink Clonk Clink”. The magnets are flying at Zoomer at great speeds!
“ Aarrh! Where should I go? What should I do?” thought Zoomer.
All of a sudden Zoomer flies out of the shop at the speed of light. All of the magnets crashing into the shop's walls with a ginormous bang! The shop owner flew out of the shop chasing him down the road.
“Come back you little whatever you are? Come back now,” he screamed at Zoomer, as he stopped running, to catch his breath.
Zoomer decided to go back, to see the owner and see what he wanted to say. Zoomer went back to find the owner who had already given up and had started to walk back, to see if his shop was going to survive.
“Hi shop owner, what would you like” mumbled Zoomer.
“For a start my name is Hamish and what do you think I want you for” shouted Hamish, the shop owner.
“I’m sorry I didn't realise that the magnets liked me” replied Zoomer.
“That’s not why, it’s because you are made out of metal so a magnet will stick to you. Do you get it or not” yelled Hamish
“Well I’m sorry I didn’t mean to do that” sighed Zoomer.
“Fine I will let you off with it this time”grumbled Hamish.
And that is the end of my False start Story

Mum’s Revenge
WALA: Writing a story that people want to read. (Narrative)
Early in the morning in the local shop, one round faced, cuddly Mum wearing her usual blue and red outfit, was buying groceries.
“This is the last time cat will eat my food” though Mum.
Lurking in the background the solitary figure of a large, fluffy barrel-like gingery white cat, who was on the lookout for food, greedy cat.
“Oooh! What’s Mum going to get me today” Greedy Cat thought excitedly.
Little did he know that Mum picked a nasty surprise from lots of different coloured and sizeed tins and cans that were all.
Back at home Greedy Cat, still on the lookout for food thought he’d sniff out a tasty treat. Peeking out from behind the door, Mum watched on. “this is going to be good” whispered Mum. All of a sudden Greedy Cat found out what his treat was.
“Meeeooowww!” screeched Greedy Cat.
“This is the last time I’m going in Mum’s shopping bag” thought Greedy Cat as he scampered away. Meanwhile Mum thought “I’ve given that cat a lesson” as Mum shut the door behind Greedy Cat.

My ideas about fair trade (and fair chocolate)
WALA: Using their prior knowledge, along with information in the text, to interpret abstract ideas, complex plots, and sophisticated themes.
I think fair trade is important, because when the company that makes the chocolate gets paid, I think they should pay the cacao farmers because if they don't get paid they can't buy the cacao plants that they need to grow the beans to make chocolate.
What is your opinion about Fair trade chocolate comment and tell me?

Space Probes
WALA: Using their prior knowledge, along with information in the text, to interpret abstract ideas, complex plots, and sophisticated themes.
This Story is about Space Probes.
This Story is about Space Probes.
Space Probes are a spacecraft that does not carry people. They go where humans cannot or dare not to go. They have been to every planet in the Solar System.
Making- Meaning
- Where are space probes sent?
They travel round space and go to all the planets and dwarf planets.
2. Why do you think the word probe has been used for this type of spacecraft?
Because a space probe is a spacecraft for use in docking with another craft
3. Why does the author say that humans dare not go to some places in space?
Because it’s risky and dangerous and humans can’t go to some planets or deep into space, because the risks are sometimes unknown and the distances are so far
4. Why can space probes be successful even though they are quite small?
So they can explore different spaces
Equipment they carry:
- infrared sensors, to measure the temperature of the planet
- radars, to see the surface of the planet through the clouds
- magnetometers, to measure magnetic fields
- cameras, to send photos of planets and moons back to Earth
- instruments that take samples of dust and debris in space
5. How successful do you feel the use of space probes has been to date?
Successful because they have found new planets and helped scientists figure things out. Scientists can also predict things that might happen by seeing what's coming out in space.
6. What do you think might create the rings around Saturn?
The dust, Ice and Rocks
7. Do you feel exploration is good or bad use of time and/or money? Why?
No we think it’s good because people who want to be mechanics or scientists or something like that can study the planets and the solar system
